hi, i’m alexis! i’m an illustrator + animator, and I specialize in visual storytelling.

i’ve loved stories for as long as i can remember, and before i could even really read, i was picking up picture books and literally imagining my own tales based on the images.

it wasn't until my time in journalism school at the University of Mississippi that I realized I wanted to tell my own stories visually. when I found the constraints of traditional journalism too stifling for my voice and vision, I enrolled in American University's film and media arts MFA program. but then, the COVID-19 pandemic shifted this program to a virtual modality — and I wasn't sure what was next.

as fate would have it, I made a full circle return to my younger self who was amazed with those picture books. i developed a passion for telling stories through illustration, and later, motion. but it wasn't until i participated in the Center for Third World Organizing's Movement Activist Apprenticeship Program where all my passions converged. I realized I could tell stories, create art, and do it all for the movements and the future I believe in.

and when I'm not creating, I love blerding out — whether that's gaming with friends or cosplaying at conventions. I'm always trying to find joy and whimsy in life, and love opportunities to reflect that in my art.

so again, i’m alexis – and it’s nice to meet you :)
